Reinhard Krumm

Representative to the U.S. and Canada

Dr. Reinhard Krumm was born in Hamburg, Germany. 1991 to 1998 he worked as a journalist in the former Soviet Union, being the Baltic correspondent for Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) in Riga from 1994 to 1996 and serving as the Moscow correspondent of Der Spiegel magazine from 1996 to 1998. Later he joined the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, directing offices in the Russian Federation (Moscow), the reginal offices in Central Asia (Tashkent), in the Baltics (Riga) as well as the Department of Central and Eastern Europe (Berlin). He also founded and directed the Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe (Vienna). Since July 2024, he is the director of the US and Canada office, based in Washington DC.

Reinhard Krumm comments frequently on current political events in the national and international media. He is a lecturer of Eastern European History at Regensburg University and an associated fellow at the Latvian Institute for International Affairs.

His recent publications include Russlands Traum (Russia’s Dream, Dietz-Verlag, Bonn 2019), together with Andre Gerrits he co-authored Moscow’s Turn to the East (FES, Riga 2024) and he also was a co-editor of A Consensus Proposal for a Revised Regional Order in Post-Soviet Europe and Eurasia (RAND, Santa Monica, Calif. 2019). 
 

Knut Panknin

Senior Program Officer for Labor and Social Affairs

Knut Panknin serves as Senior Program Officer for Labor and Social Affairs. He joined FES as a Program Officer in 2004. In his current capacity, he works closely with labor unions, policymakers, and civil society on progressive economic policy issues, “just transition”, vocational education, and questions of equity and social justice. He also coordinates the transatlantic policy network of the “Global Atlanticists”. Prior to joining FES, Knut worked in a European studies program at the Center for European and North American Studies at the University of Göttingen, Germany. He received his M.A. in Political Science - focusing on U.S. foreign and domestic policy - Linguistics, and Philosophy from the University of Göttingen.

Nathaniel Haas

Capitol Hill Liaison and Program Officer

Nathaniel Haas serves as Capitol Hill Liaison and Program Officer, a position he has held since May 2022. Prior to joining FES, he completed a Max Kampelman Fellowship with the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission) in Congress. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies: World Politics and Diplomacy from the University of Richmond.

Marlies N. Murray

Program and Communications Officer

Marlies Murray joined the FES in Washington DC as the Program and Communications Officer in December 2022. Marlies previously served as the Junior Program Officer Aspen Institute Germany in Berlin where she was responsible for Aspen's Leadership Program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the Freie Universität Berlin where she specialized in transatlantic relations and U.S. foreign policy.

Hannah Tyler

Program Officer for Foreign and Security Policies

Hannah Tyler currently serves as the Program Officer for Foreign and Security Policies, a position she has held since January 2023. Prior to joining FES, she worked as an Immigration Research Analyst at the Bipartisan Policy Center. She holds a Master's in German and European Studies from Georgetown University, and a B.A. in History and Theatre from Rice University.

Chocolatté Miller

Logistical Operations Officer

Chocolatté Miller serves as the Logistical Operations Officer since November 2022, with a prime role coordinating most logistical aspects of FES DC programs and office business operations. He obtained a Human Resources Certification in 2014 from George Mason University. Additionally, he has held a range of business management roles over the past two decades ranging from human resources, finance, project management, brand/event management, and process development.

Jordan Leichnitz

Program Officer for Transatlantic Relations and Canada Liaison

Jordan Leichnitz currently serves as the Program Officer in Canada of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Washington office. Jordan has over fifteen years of experience in progressive political strategy and policy development. She has worked in senior roles in the New Democratic Party of Canada for over a decade.

Eileen Antrobus

Finance & Administrative Officer

Eileen Antrobus joined the Washington Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung as Finance and Administrative Officer in January 2021. She received both her B.A. in Communication/Germanic Studies and M.A. in German Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to her position at the FES, she was a Language Program Officer for the Goethe-Institut Washington, DC.
