Balanced Discontent in Europe's Eastern Neighbourhood?

On the occasion of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation's 90th Anniversary we invited our U.S. partners for a panel discussion on "Balanced Discontent in Europe's Eastern Neighborhood?". Dr. Rolf Mützenich, Member of the German Bundestag, and former Congressman Russ Carnahan presented concepts for the future relationship with Russia discussed in the U.S. and Germany. They both emphasized the importance of the transatlantic partnership to a peaceful solution of the conflict.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Stephen Szabo, Executive Director of the Transatlantic Academy and author of the book "Germany, Russia and the Pursuit of Geo-Economics".

The discussion was followed by a reception at which Congressman Jim McDermott, Senior Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and MP Mützenich highlighted the role of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation's international work and stressed it's importance for the transatlantic dialogue.

The event was held at the German-American Heritage Museum.
